SPG Celebrates: Amy Craig – World Champion!

It’s an extraordinary moment for SPG as we spotlight one of our own - Amy Craig, our exceptional strength coach, who has just secured the title of World University Champion at the 2025 World University Cup Powerlifting, held in Istanbul, Türkiye, from 16–20 July 2025.
The competition featured top university lifters from around the world, representing their institutions on the international stage in both classic and equipped divisions. Amy dominated the Women’s Classic 69 kg class, outperforming competitors with an impressive total 452,5 kg that placed her at the pinnacle of her category.

In Istanbul, the 2025 World University Cup Powerlifting served as a global gathering for scholar-athletes, merging elite sport with academic dedication.
Amy represented Glasgow Caledonian University in the Women’s Classic 69 kg division, where she rose above a competitive field that included standout international lifters such as Anouk Hofstee and Charlotte Jongenotter to claim gold.
Amy’s Top Lifts
In her weight class, Amy delivered stellar performances in all three lifts:
Squat: 177,5 kg
Bench Press: 92,5kg
Deadlift: 182,5kg
Her cumulative total of 452,5 kg showcased not only raw strength but also technical precision, determination, and championship composure.
